We have been changing the character of our business from the growth of Plants to that of Fancy Roses and Cut Flowers, principally Roses. For the varieties we refer to our Catalogue of 1877. We have a large stock of all the varieties of Plants, Shrubs, etc., described in our Catalogue of 1877, which we intend to close out this season. The prices will be the same as last season, except for Novelties. We shall make a discount of fifty per cent, both on Nov- elties in Rose Plants and on all other varieties of Novelties. To those who have not our 1877 Retail Catalogue, we will forward one upon application. Our stock of Plants is finer than last season, and are grown in two and three inch pots, unless otherwise stated. All goods will be sent by express, unless desired to the contrary. Very vigorous; leaves deep green, distinctly striped with yellowish green, forming a well-marked variega- tion; truss large; flowers scarlet red. ‘This is a peculiarly novel and distinct variety as regards the foliage, and is likely to become valuable amongst the bedding bi-colors or bronze section. Bright carmine, with dark veins and spots; very rich and attractive. Hofgartner Kellerman. A round, close flower; the upper petals of a dark, tiery carinine-red color, with strongly marked dark spots and veins; the under petals light carmine, lightly veined. Hofgartner Huber. A fine round flower; the upper petals rosy-purple, darkly spotted and veined; the under petals rosy-carmine, with light veins. Hofgartner Braun. A beautiful flower, of a very fine carmine color, with intensely dark veins and spots. Madame Glevitzky. A magnificent flower; upper petals of a fine vermilion color, veined and spotted with purple, under petals light vermilion. Oberburgermeister Heine. This variety has fine golden-yellow foliage, richly zoned with dark bronze, and produces bright deep-scarlet flowers, of good form and Size. Capella. Pale yellow ground color, with a very bright bronzy-crimson zone; very rich and attractive. Epirus. A very fine variety; ground color of leaves, pale greenish-yellow, ornamented with a very dark and broad bronze zone. Fides. ‘This distinct and effective variety has leaves with deep golden disk, attractively banded with a rich bronzy-crimson zone, and margined with pale yellow. Maritana. A richly colored variety, deep golden leaf centre, surrounded with dark chocolate-bronze zone, and mirgined with yellow. Parthenope. Waban Conservatories Trade Circular for 1878. 5 NEW AND CHOICE BEDDING AND SOFT-WOODED PLANTS. Bouvardia Candidissima. One of the finest of the white-flowered group, of neat, open, shrub-like habit. Its peculiar divergent style of growth displays its numerous terminal racemes of pure white trumpet-shaped blossoms to great advantage. Bouvardia Maiden Blush. This desirable variety is of neat habit and a profuse bloomer; the flowers are of a bright blush pink color; very distinct and effective. Bouvardia Queen of Roses. A pretty variety, producing large clusters of bright rosy-pink fragrant blossoms. Bouvardia Umbellata Alba. A handsome hybrid, intermediate between B. Hogarth and B. Jasminoides; of free, well-branched habit. The flow- ers are produced in terminal and axillary compact clusters, the terminal ones much larger; the flower-tubes cream-tinted, with broad, pure white lobes. Bouvardia Umbellata Carnea. The flowers of this variety are very fragrant, clear cream-white, changing to a delicate rosy-blush color. Each, 25 cents; $2.50 per dozen. NEW AND CHOICE DOUBLE-FLOWERED ZONALE PELARGONIUMS, 1878. Beauté Frappante, a dwarf-growing and abundant-blooming variety, pro- ducing five large trusses of pretty white flowers, with large salmon centre. Brigade, rich, deep scarlet; fine large flowers, produced in immense trusses. Calmar, deep scarlet; a fine, showy flower. Comet. This is one of the brightest and most dazzling scarlet flowers in the double section; the trus-es are large and of good shape, and the in- dividual flowers very full, double, and well formed. ’ Ferdinand d’Aragon. Fine double flowers, with undulated petals of a salmon-orange color, sometimes marked with white; dwarf and free flowering. Guillion Maugilli. Immense truss of large, double flowers of a beautiful dark crimson color, the upper petals strongly marked with scarlet; very distinct and beautiful. Hespeurs. A distinct and beautiful variety, of dwarf habit, fecely producing flowers of a fresh satin flesh color, clearer towards the edge, and tinted with rosy white. Probus.
